The garden

The garden is an integral part of life at Green Pastures. It was designed specifically for people living with reduced mobility, senses or memory.

Easyily accessible

Residents may access it from the Atrium, the sun lounge, and from 9 of the ground floor rooms. It is also visible from many of the resident rooms, sun lounge and balconies. Easy access is afforded by the absence of thresholds or steps to negotiate, with a smooth resin path that passes beneath a pergola supporting roses, honeysuckle and clematis, then describes a figure of eight route around an all season planting schedule and a mirrored, touchable water globe.

Raised beds accessible for people in wheelchairs feature bulbs and perennials picked for fragrance and texture as well as beauty. These compliment the main planting beds which provide interest around a variety of seating zones for sunshine and shade. In 2020 we added a wild flower mini-meadow to increase bio-diversity, and hopefully some extra mini visitors. The garden becomes the heart of the Home in the summer months – for dining, activities and fetes, or simply for wandering at leisure, or sitting for pleasure.
Those that wish to can access and enjoy the garden throughout the year.

We love our garden!
